  • Mirtazapine

    Mirtazapine (brand name: Remeron®, Mirataz®) is an antidepressant often used to treat weight loss and anorexia (loss of appetite), mainly in cats. It also has antiemetic (anti-vomiting) and anti-nausea effects and has been used to treat side effects of chemotherapy. Rarely, it may be used to treat behavioral problems.

  • Misoprostol

    Misoprostol (brand names Cytotec®, Arthrotec®) is a prostaglandin E1 analog drug. It is used off label (extra label) to treat or prevent stomach ulcers due to NSAID use in cats, dogs, and horses. It can also be used in combination with other medications to treat uterine infections, protect the kidneys, treat skin allergies, or to terminate pregnancy.

  • Mitotane

    Mitotane is primarily used to treat Cushing's disease in dogs. It has also been used to treat adrenal gland tumors. Mitotane reduces the amount of cortisone-like hormones produced by the adrenal cortex.

  • Molidustat

    Molidustat (brand name Varenzin-CAI) is a medication used to treat anemia (low red blood cell number) in cats with chronic kidney disease. Molidustat helps increase red blood cell production. It is conditionally approved for use in cats only. It comes in liquid suspension form.

  • Molnupiravir

    Molnupiravir is an antiviral used to treat feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) in cats. This medication is used off label in veterinary medicine. Molnupiravir comes in oral capsule form.

  • Mometasone Furoate + Gentamicin Sulfate + Clotrimazole Topical Ointment

    Mometasone furoate + gentamicin sulfate + clotrimazole topical (Mometamax, Maxi-otic, MotaZol, PattOtic) is a combination topical ear medication used to treat bacterial and yeast ear infections in dogs. It comes as a liquid suspension and is applied topically to the affected ear once daily.

  • Mometasone Furoate Combination

    Mometasone furoate combination (brand names: Mometamax®, Posatex®, Elocon®) is a topical corticosteroid used for treating itchy and inflammatory skin conditions that are associated with bacterial or yeast infections of the skin. It is labeled for use in the ear of dogs. It is used off label in cats and other mammals, and for other uses in dogs.

  • Moxidectin + Fluralaner Topical

    Moxidectin + fluralaner topical (Bravecto Plus, Vitrecto) is used in cats to prevent heartworms, treat and prevent fleas, and to treat intestinal parasites (hookworms and roundworms). It also kills black-legged ticks (deer ticks). It is used off label (extra label) in cats to treat other types of ticks, as well as skin mites and ear mites.

  • Moxidectin + Imidacloprid Topical

    Moxidectin + imidacloprid topical (Advantage Multi, Imoxi) is used to prevent heartworms and treat intestinal parasites (hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms) and to treat and prevent fleas in cats, dogs, and ferrets (Advantage Multi only). In dogs this combination product is also approved to treat sarcoptic mange and treat circulating heartworm microfilaria (immature heartworms); in cats it may also be used to treat ear mites.

  • Moxidectin + Sarolaner + Pyrantel

    Moxidectin + sarolaner + pyrantel (Simparica Trio) is used in dogs to prevent heartworms and to treat and prevent intestinal parasites (hookworms and roundworms), flea infestations, and tick infestations. This medication is given by mouth as a flavored chew tablet.
